Sayings… Motto… Tags… Slogans… catchphrase? Are they true because they keep getting repeated and it makes us feel good? Does God choose to be in control? Or does He let us have choice?
The verse that says God is in control is found…? Here is what I do find…
- Philippians 4:6 ask me to present my request, why should I ask if he is in control?
- Isaiah 41:10 If all things were good and in His control, why would I need to have strength?
- Galatians 6:9 why the encouragement to not grow weary if the possibility is there?
- Roman 8:28, If there was not something bad, why would God work all things out for the good of those that love Him?
- Ephesians 6:10-18 If everything were in His control why would I need armor?
- Psalms 25:12 and Proverbs 16:9 Who chooses? If God was controlling, wouldn’t He choose your path?
He allows us to choose right from wrong
God is Sovereign, yet in His sovereignty, He allows us to choose right from wrong, as Adam and Eve. Depending on what we choose there are benefits or consequences. We see this all around us.
There are some things that we know are His will. Matthew 28:19-20 says to make disciples. Matthew 10:8 says to heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the leper, and drive out demons. We have the power in us to facilitate restoration in others’ lives. Our choice of a life path is the mission field in which we do His will. How we behave in our chosen life path is very important.
The joy of the Lord is our strength
Wisdom tells us how to behave in every moment, we can give Him control of those moments. The joy of the Lord is our strength, we are to always have joy. That does not mean that everything is joyful? NO! by no means!
My brother was murdered, I was very devastated as a young person. The grief was overwhelming. Yet, God was still there, even though I yelled and was very mad. God wants us to live . God opposes Satan, who destroys, steals, and kills. A restored abundant life is a right relationship with God.
If God is in Control why did He say to go and preach the Good news?
How will people know God if we are not preaching our good news to those we meet, who will? When Jesus died so all could have salvation. God does not wish nor does He send people to hell. When people reject grace, they are accepting hell.
Responsibility and Accountability
We are responsible to this world to act according to His nature and His character. We are accountable for what we do or do not do according to His will.
What choices are you making today? Are you giving God your day? Resting in His ability to walk with you throughout each activity, experience, or feeling that you encounter?
