Racquetball Lesson #1

Racquetball

Play Sports? I do! RACQUETBALL. Its fast, but has lots of little breaks. I only have to chase the ball in the small confined court. I play against 1 person. God also talks to me during the games.

Greatest opponent

My greatest opponent is me. I find myself not complementing my competitor because a complement from me, would not be worthy to be heard. Like a fly telling an eagle how great he can fly. The eagle would not care. What is that saying about my competitor? That they would be to arrogant to not take a complement from me. I started coaching myself into better thinking, complement my competitor and realizing if I was not worthy, my competitor would not be in the court.

Get to the ball

My other challenge was just getting to the ball. So in my head my only looses was not getting to the ball after it hit the front wall. 1st on my list is just getting to the ball.

Holding the racquet

Holding the racquet properly is what can make or break your game. Finding the right position for the handle in your hand. When to turn it for a back hand or hold it for a tap. Knowing your racquet; how long the handle is, how wide the racquet is and what’s that all together. Not a knowing like I have measured everything and studied but a knowing like its a part of me.

Knowing you are not going to succeed in the desired outcome

Everyone wants to win. Be in the server box. I get to be there sometimes because I get a really great shot by the grace of God and sometimes I get there because of the practice. I do not believe in luck.

What God has shown me….

I am who He says I am and I can do what He says I can do. Who am I ?..or anyone else … to say different?

Do what you are called to do even if you miss, don’t make it to the front wall or fall. It is not the outcome its the effort in the journey.

Know how to use your racquet, you do not hit your competitor with the racquet, you hit the ball. Kindness of my words is for my competitor, the ball takes all the hits.

Just because I am not in the server box does not mean I am a loser, it means I need to keep learning, trying and growing. Losing is when you do not try. Winning is not giving up.
